guide to food steamers

Steaming is one of my favorite cooking methods, especially for vegetables. Cooking food in hot vapor gives them a crisp-tender texture and allows them to retain all of their flavor and nutrients, without it leaching into the cooking water as it would do if you boiled them. And there's no fat needed (unless you add a tiny pat of butter or a drizzle of oil after cooking, as I often do). The Guide to Food Steamers will familiarize you with the different stovetop and countertop (and even microwave) steamer options available, and will arm you with tips to achieve the best success with this healthy and efficient cooking technique.
