With its ribbon of delicious filling, swirled sweet breads are not only delicious to eat but pretty to look at. Creating that swirl and iced topping that give your sweet bread recipes their bakery-quality appearance isn't difficult. In this tutorial, I'm using my Cinnamon Roll Bread Recipe, but you can use any yeast bread, made in either a bread machine or by hand.

First, make and knead the bread dough according to the recipe's instructions. In your bread machine, a 1 1/2-pound loaf will make two loaves of bread in 8-inch by 5-inch pans, and many bread machines have a "dough only" setting that will mix and knead the dough, stopping after its first rise so you can finish it in your oven. Whether you're using a bread machine or mixing by hand (or with your Stand Mixer), When it is just about doubled in size from the first rise, turn the dough out onto a lightly floured work surface, and divide the dough in half with a bench press (a flat metal "blade" used for dividing or scraping dough) or a knife.
