Homemade pita chips are fast and easy to make, and make a healthy alternative to potato or tortilla chips. Bake these pita chips to accompany my Yogurt-Thyme Hummus Recipe.
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 9 minutes
Ingredients:
- 6 pieces pita bread (about 12 ounces)
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 1 tablespoon flaky sea salt or kosher salt
Preparation:
- Preheat oven to 400˚F. Using a serrated knife, carefully split each pita bread by cutting along the edge, so you end up with 12 flat circles of bread. Using a pastry brush, brush the inside surface of each piece of bread lightly with oil, then cut each disk into wedges.
- Line a sheet pan with parchment paper, and place chips, olive oil side up, in an even layer. You'll probably need to bake the chips in several batches. Bake at 400˚F for 7 to 9 minutes, until chips are crisp and golden brown. Cool completely on the sheet pan, a plate or a cooling rack. You can make these chips a day ahead of time and store them in a zip-top bag at room temperature. Try the pita chips with Yogurt-Thyme Hummus.
Serves 6 to 10 people as an appetizer.
