My Review

Imagine having hundreds (or maybe even thousands) of recipes at your fingertips, for free! That's what you get with the Epicurious app. It's beautifully designed, loads quickly and will inspire even the most jaded cook with new ideas. You can search the database by ingredient or keyword, or look at the homepage for featured topics that are updated according to the season (i.e. Spring Desserts or Graduation Party in the late Spring). There's also the ability to save the recipes to a "favorites" section by touching a plus sign at the top of each recipe, and you can also save the ingredients to a shopping list, which will combine each recipes' ingredients at the touch of a button.

While the text is a little on the small side when your iPhone is vertical, turning it to the side so that the screen swivels will automatically enlarge the text and separate the recipe into an "ingredients" tab and a preparation tab that separates the instructions into multiple pages with an arrow that you touch to advance to the next step... handy, though I wish you could also scroll in the larger landscape format.

This app is great for when you're at the farmer's market or on the way to the grocery store with no idea what you're making for dinner... just do a search or scroll through the featured recipes until inspiration strikes!
